The Saragossa Center, the vehicles research institute, is in the property of 23 Spanish and Portuguese insurers. This week lots Europeans had the opportunity to take part in the Brussels Best Safety Choice CZ Award 2009, where they awarded 10 vehicles of 7 manufacturers, if we accept Ford as one of them. These awards take into account both the passive safety and the active one.
All the models in the list had the control of series stability (ESP) in any of the versions, an important aspect that the jury valued. Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo presented two vehicles in this ceremony. Also we could see Alpha Romeo, Audi, Opel and Volkswagen. The list of models was the following.
Five stars EuroNCAP in the passengers’ protection had:
* Small cars: Alpha Romeo MiTo
* Compact: Volkswagen Golf
* Berlins: Opel Ensign and Ford Mondeo
* Berlins Premium: Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz Class E
* Compact mono volume cars: Mercedes-Benz Class B
* Big Mono volume cars: Ford S-MAX
* Compact off-roaders: Volvo XC60
* Big off-roaders: Volvo XC90 Se
I did not see in this list Renault Megane, for example, but there is a reason for it. It was the first event, but these award ceremonies will be held every year. Congratulations to the lucky owners of these cars.
