I think it will surprise nobody. Future of electric cars of General Motors is in technology Voltec, the same one that Opel Ampera and Chevrolet Volt take. According to the rumors they are going to make the six generation of Opel Astra completely electric by 2014.
In fact, two electric models of General Motors, Opel Ampera and Chevrolet Volt, will not have the second generation. They will stay without changes and their technology will be used in other cars of the group. It is logically and even necessary.
They have published this information in the magazine Bus, quoting like source someone from General Motors. We do not know if it is true. So we have to wait four or five years.
